Ivan Kashinsky is currently based in Los Angeles, California. He is a documentary photographer who has worked extensively in Latin America. Much of his work has focused on culture and the impacts of globalization and consumerism on people and the environment. Kashinsky strives to tell stories that shed light on subjects that are underrepresented in mainstream media. He has been on assignment for publications such as National Geographic, The New York Times, Geo, and Smithsonian. His work has been exhibited internationally and recognized in many of the most important photo contests. In 2011 Kashinsky and his wife, Karla Gachet, created Runa Photos a photography collective later joined by Misha Vallejo.
